How To Find FishNew Body Of Water If you are going to start fishing a newly created body of water (like a reservoir), here are some things to keep in mind. For the first 2 years, it will be very easy to catch the fish, though they will be smaller (t though about 50% larger in the second year). The 3rd year will prove more of a challenge, as the fish are larger and savvier. It is important to move around the lake and watch where the experienced anglers are getting action. Also keep tabs on where and when each species is feeding. Also, make a note of the moon phase when you record this information, so that you can refer to it during the same phase in following years. You will probably discover that the bass feed best at dawn and dusk, bluegills during midmorning and midafternoon, crappies under lantern light at night, and white bass at high noon. | Brown Trout Fishing, A Real ChallengeThe brown trout is natively a European fish. In the waters of the Atlantic and even into western Asia is where they were originally found. They were introduced in the United States and Canada in 1883. They can now be found in most of the Canadian waters and the Great Lakes. The fish themselves seem to have had trouble being successful in the Canadian waters, but have been successful in Lake Michigan. When introduced there, they proved to be able to withstand intense degraded habitats that other trout could not survive in. The survival of the brown trout is due in part to the fact that they like to feed at night and therefore the adult has very few predators. In fact, its main predator is the human fisherman. The brown trout has been stocked in the Michigan Lake for years and has become an important part of the lake's ecosystem. Brown trout fishing is very popular here. In many places, surf casting brown trout has become a popular sport. | Fishing for Blue FishThe average fish weighs between 4 and 10 pounds, with any fish over 20 pounds being considered a real quality fish. The recognized IGFA record is 31 pounds, 12 ounce fish caught off the coast of North Carolina in 1972. Unconfirmed monster fish have reportedly been caught in the 40-pound range. Population numbers of bluefish have been documented to follow cycles lasting about forty years. A recent disappearance occurred during the 1920s, and anglers are still enjoying a high for the fish which began in the 1970s. They are migratory fish, following schools of baitfish such as menhaden shad and mullet, heading north from Florida in spring, all the way to Maine by the end of the summer. |
