A Guide to Non-Typical Catfish Fishing Techniques Part IIMethod 1 Equipment I fish baits at all depths, not just the bottom, in wide-open water. I always set up and fish deep lake structures. Besides an understanding of the contours on the bottom of the lake, being mobile and being able to read your fish locator are the keys. The tools I use are 8-foot heavy action rods, circle hooks, cut and live shad, balloons and the all-important fish locator. I use 30-pound line, large capacity reels, 8-foot heavy action rods, 2 oz. Egg sinkers, barrel swivels and #7/0 circle hooks. | Fly Fishing Secrets for the Novice as well as the seasoned AnglerFly fishing is an exciting and fast growing sport in all over the world, and especially here in the U.S.A. The reasons for the increasing popularity of fly fishing are obvious. Fly fishing is enjoyable, relaxing, and rewarding in many different ways. Perhaps the most rewarding element of fly fishing is the variety of beautiful natural surroundings in which anglers often find themselves; a secluded stream up in the mountains, a peaceful meandering river deep in the forest, or a tranquil blue lake somewhere out in big sky country. For some, it may be the opportunity to test ones' individual skill against nature - in an intricate game of cat and mouse (but in this case, man against fish.) These are just some of the compelling reasons why many thousands of people enjoy the challenges of fly fishing every year. | Fly Line Weight3 – 4 weight: Also for fishing small flies and making delicate presentations. These are very common for stream fishermen and also very effective. Not overkill for small stream trout, able to handle larger trout and ideal for some of the smaller warm-water species. Casting range = 30 – 60 feet. 5 – 6 weight: The most common and practical weight. Will easily handle most trout and pan fish flies up to size 6. This is the rod most popular with Western fly fishermen and can be used in just about any trout fishing situation. Considered by many to be the one rod weight to have if you were to only have one rod. Casting range = 50 – 80 feet. |
