Brook Trout and Brook trout Fishing These fish range in color, but mostly brook trout are dark green to a light brown with sliver sides and even pale spots as well. As with other types of fish, their color tends to get deeper and richer during spawning. The male can develop a hook like feature on the jaw during breeding season. As for brook trout fishing, the best locations to do so are in the maritime provinces of Canada. Brook trout like water that is clean, well oxygenated, and usually are found in streams and lakes. To get some brook trout fishing in, an individual has the best chance using live bait or by artificial fly. Also, spin casting has been found to be effective at catching brook trout. These fish seem to be a good size and beautiful creatures of the north. For those planning a brook trout fishing trip, brook trout spawn in late summer or early autumn. Their lifespan is about five years.

Confidence in Fly Fishing Three quick stories come to mind illustrate this. First off let me say there have been plenty of times when I have been on both sides of the confidence equation. A few years ago, I was steelheading with a couple of fly fishing buddies. Unlike me, though there guys weren't purists. And we were using terminal gear. Although were just dead-drifting jigs, very similar to fly fishing, I felt about as coordinated as a monkey performing brain surgery. As the day wore on more and more steelies were caught. Huge steelies, the biggest I had ever seen! None by me. I could feel my confidence shrinking. And I mean my confidence in all kinds of things, like being able to read the river, being able to detect a strike. Things that had no connection to me using unfamiliar gear. The pressure inside my head built, until I HAD to catch a fish. I didn't catch one fish that day, although I finally had a strike, and set the hook so hard I jerked it right out of the fish's mouth. And I fished longer and harder than anyone else on the trip.

The Difference in Lake Trout Lake trout are a type of fish that are completely different then any other fish. Those that like to go lake trout fishing, know that they are difficult to catch. Unless you know just how to do so, well, your chances are small of actually getting one. Lake trout fish are the ones everyone wants though as their size can be enormous! Lake trout fishing is a great type of fishing, but you will need the knowledge of these fish before you begin to fish them. There are many unique qualities to lake trout. One of the most important is their size. The record weight for lake trout is over 102 pounds! Imagine bringing that in! The average weight depends on what the fish eats. Those lake trout that can benefit from being in a lake with ciscoes, smelt or sculpins will grow to large sizes. These lake trout are called Siscowets or fat trout. Those that don't have this variety of small fish to eat, will eat plankton, insects, and crustaceans. Obviously, this fish is not going to weigh nearly as much.
